Rough Day on Easter
Some of you already know from other sites or Facebook that my mother-in-law was admitted to the hospital this morning. First it was thought it was a stroke, now it appears it was an anuerysm. She is at University Hospital in Baltimore in ICU. Surgery is planned for tomorrow at 6:30am. Just a rough Easter for all of us.

Re: Rough Day on Easter
Sorry, and I hope she gets through surgery and is okay. That is what I lost my dad to years ago, and it's tough when something happens so suddenly.

Re: Rough Day on Easter
This has been a really shitty year or so. Lost my mom at age 59 last March, then my Grandmother (my mom's mom). Now this.
When it rains it pours. That's life though.

Re: Rough Day on Easter
My mother in law collapsed on Easter Sunday. She felt numb on one side and had a severe headache. After a cat scan it was determined she had an anuerysm. The only choice was to operate. While they had her skull open they found a second one. Both were clipped off and taken care of successfully. However this type of operation turns out with 50-50 odds.
She has been awake since Sunday but is extremely confused. Stroke is a major danger over the next few days. Even if that doesn't happen, it is not sure if a full recovery is possible or if she may be impaired and not able to take care of herself.
The good news is, she has been able to communicate, but it is obviously not herself. It's just too early in this ballgame to say what will happen. She will be in the hospital for at least 2 weeks under the best of scenarios.

Re: Rough Day on Easter
It will be a long process for sure, but hopefully she will improve with time and the outcome will be positive. It's good they could catch the aneurysm in time to stop the bleeding.

Re: Rough Day on Easter
Well Lori was really upset yesterday and understandably so. She went to visit her mom and her mom didn't recognize her. She is very confused after the surgery. This could be a long road for all of us.
