they felt that they were musicians - not performers.

also they hated the way the fans were always pulling at themand they were tired of the general mayhem - it seemed as if no one was listening.

there were even death threats.

the music biz has changed a lot since those days.

then you made more money selling albums. nowadays you make more money touring because sales of cds is down.

I am sure there are more reasons out there.

I was very lucky to see them on their first visit to the U.S.

Just prior to their U.S. "official" visit, they made an "unofficial" visit to New Orleans. My father had to be in N.O. on business and my mother, and me and my best friend from school were along for a little vacation.

One thing led to another and my father wrangled and introduction for my friend and me. It was very exciting.

The Beatles toured, and back then, their equipment, sound system was not loud enough to be heard of the fans. Yes, the fans were that loud and the poor band couldn't be heard playing.
