I would have listed him, but that would have been a "homer/biased" move on my part. My favorite singers Icon_wink

Lots of other singers I love are not on the top 10. Bruce Dickinson, Freddie Mercury, etc.

Steve Perry, Kevin Chalfant.

I'm really digging Augeri. Tall Stories' first album is superb.

As of 7/3/2010, I daresay I prefer Chalfant to Perry. Perry's voice had to take natural progression in order to induce rougher, gutteral vocals, whereas the Storm's two albums show that Chalfant can switch from countertenor to gritty "smokey" (to borrow Deb's overused term) tenor at will. Perry's a close second, and Augeri's coming in at a third. Love his performance on the first Tall Stories' album. I'd like to combine Arnel's power and range with Augeri's tone and control to make the ultimate hybrid Journey replacement singer.

I may have to kidnap them. My favorite singers Icon_twisted

I like both Chalfant and Augeri. I watched Kevin's set at MR1 with JSS and he was impressed with his performance of the Journey songs. The band waited too long to pull the trigger and get K.C. Loved the first Storm album.

Augeri made the most of what he had, and Schon can be revisionist all he wants but he chose Steve A. Neal said all kinds of hurtful things about him when we were hanging out to the point of me telling him to just stop it. I apologized to Steve about any of the shit I said about him online in the old MR days and he was very gracious about it. Good guy. Hope to catch him live soon (and this time for real live) My favorite singers Icon_lol

I also hope to catch Augeri live too and I hope to hear more from Chalfant.

Journey really should have gone with him.

Hard to explain, I guess. For one thing, I was still pretty pissed about the whole JSS/Arnel/Journey stuff, and most of us in our little group were having a blast at Arnel's expense (right, Dan? My favorite singers Icon_razz ). Journey was the last thing I wanted to hear when I was there, so I guess he had the cards stacked against him from the start with me. And then at the after-party, he was strutting around like God's gift, and for some reason it just creeped me out.

Yikes; the last thing Journey needed was another singer with an overactive ego. Perhaps that's why he was eventually looked over? In any case, there's no questioning Chalfant's talent. From the videos I've seen online and my own copies of the Storm's albums, he sounds outright incredible. I'd say he's at least Perry's equal on every technical level, something that Augeri, Soto, and Arnel can't claim to be.

I refuse to believe this! (Does this mean it's acceptable to have a blast at Perry's expense? Laughing )
