My Trip to NC (Nascar)

Last weekend, while the Sprint Cup Series was here in CA at Infineon Raceway near San Francisco, I was on the wrong coast in North Carolina. The wedding we were supposed to attend in Raleigh got cancelled (long story. lol), so that gave us some time to drive over to Charlotte. I have been there several times, including a couple of Coca Cola 600s, but my girlfriend had never experienced the Nascar hub.
Wow! We started off our day with a trip to Penske Racing South. UNREAL! He has all his racing operations headquartered there. There is a 330 ft. long (longer than a football field) second floor walkway where you can watch the racecars being prepared. JUST the Nascar section has EIGHT ACRES under one roof! A total of 494,000 square feet including the Indycar and sportscar operations. You could eat off the tile floor-the mechanics lay right on the floor to work. If you EVER get in the area, it's worth the time to see it! The Hendrick and Roush shops we saw later in the day, although impressive, really paled in comparison.
Then on to Lowe's Motor Speedway. They have a gift shop and historical artifacts you can view, but the neatest thing is the track tour-specifically the ride around the actual race track itself in a van driven by a sweet, CRAZY, older lady who takes you off into 24 degrees of banking at around 80 MPH! This was DEFINITELY the highlight of the trip for my girlfriend!
