Mother Father....
Are you interested to hear Arnel sing Mother Father?
Why do you think the band decided to make Deen sing this song even though Arnel doesn't seem like the person who needs some help.
I, for one, isn't really interested, I love Deen's version! The only reason I asked is because me and my father had a little argument over this. He's not a hardcore fan of JOURNEY, we're both casual fans *gasp* (i hope i don't get thrown out of here cos of that) BUT I'm not a biased listener. It seems like these days he likes almost everything AP does, and it bothers me, cos 5 months ago, he's telling me SP is better and now he's saying the opposite. He said that with a song like 'Mother Father' Arnel should do well cos he's voice is fuller. BUT I think Deen's vocals is perfect for it, I like how soft it is and it gives more of a classic tone, which IMO is closer to the original.
SO whatcha think guys?
*I hope I don't get stoned for being a casual fan here*

Mother, Father
That is my favorite song in the whole world. I never got the pleasure of seeing Steve Perry sing it But, Deen does an absolutely amazing job on it, and I would hate to lose that. I guess Arnel may do a great job, but I don't want to chance it.
Take care,

I was so when I watched Deen sang it on this Vegas DVD! His performance gave me chills! I would also choose the third choice since I really love watching that video of SP singing this live, I choked up when I watched it.

I don't think Arnel would sing it like that . It's just that I think his voice doesn't fit this song, maybe he'd do a good job on it, but for now I'm satisfied with Deen.
BUT I want to hear Arnel sing "PATIENTLY" I think it suits him more

They really have to teach him to stop doing that. It makes me want to strip naked, climb up in a tower with a high powered automatic weapon and start shooting at random fat chicks.
Deen does a terrific job on the song, and they should leave it at that.

Re: Mother Father....
Can someone tell me where that high pitched 'accopello' (for lack of a better word) voice singing during the last 20 secs of the live DVD for MF? On the studio version obviously it's Perry. But you can plainly see that no one is singing on the DVD and there is no way Cain is duplicating on his keys.
And before some of you fuckers start accusing me of insiuating shit..drop it right there. I just wanna know cause I think it sounds great. So don't even go there.

Perhaps either Neal or Ross triggered it with a pedal, or Cain played it via laptop.
Something similar to what Rush does all the time.

It's not completely live. That's why.
Not criticizing it either, EVERYONE does it. This is NOT tapegate.
But it is definitely messed with.

To me it sounds like Perry. Maybe they dubbed him in. Don't remember if that was there in the concert or not.
