Great White Plans Comeback Fire

After struggling for the past seven years in obscurity, Great White revealed plans to reclaim its spot as America's most talked-about band with a comeback fire that the band promises will outdo anything the music industry's ever seen before.

It's an ambitious plan to turn around the glam-metal band's flagging fortunes. Since the end of the media blitz that came after a a fire, sparked by the band's use of pyrotechnics, claimed the lives of 100 people, including guitarist Ty Longley, in 2003, Great White's been ignored by the mass media. The act is banking that its forthcoming lethal inferno will rival the Station Nightclub fire as well as its chart dominance with 1987's "One Bitten, Twice Shy."

"We will redefine the way everyone thinks of washed-out hair-metal bands," Great White frontman Jack Russell proclaimed. "This is going to be bigger, hotter and more deadly than anything you thought Great White was capable of."

The band and its management are keeping details of the blaze mostly under wraps, though a few details have been leaked to the media: The blaze will be sparked by on-stage pyrotechnics as well as incendiary devices hidden around a still-to-be-named rock club. Audience members will be doused by an unspecified accelerant seconds before ignition, helping ensure a headline-grabbing number of deaths. The entire affair will be filmed for release as a limited-edition DVD for the fourth quarter of 2010.

"With camcorder footage of the fire playing constantly on 24-hour television news networks, we learned one thing: There are enough sick fucks in America who will get off on watching an firestorm char and strip away concert-goers' flesh," the band's manager Dan Goingsly said in a statement. "This time around, we'll be able to give it to them with Blu-Ray quality video and 5.1 Dolby sound."
