Digging the new Dokken!
Got the new Dokken at midnight last night on Itunes, and I really like it. It's no Back For The Attack, but considering Don's age and vocal condition, it's really good. I don't know what he's done, but his voice sounds WAAAAAAY better than it did on the last cd. Maybe some vocal rest? I don't know. There are several great songs on the album, and after listening to it a couple of times through, I'd give it an 8 out of 10. Not bad.

Rip needs to get his ass on here so we can discuss the album! Get him in here B!!!

I thought the clip on Andrew's front page was great. Don explained how they came up with the name and theme of the album. Also, that guitarist smokes. I really like his playing. The only song I heard was great. I just hope he never does a live album.

I completely agree. I listened to the whole album again today while I was hiking, and I really like it. It sounds great, and whoever produced and mixed it did a great job. It does get a little mellow for Dokken, but each song is done well, and I think it sounds awesome. Considering how Don's voice sounds lately, I was AMAZED that he pulled this off. It sounds much better than Hell To Pay IMHO. His voice sounded like he had taken up eating broken glass as a hobby.

Nope. I'm sure he has a little pitch correction going on (as do pretty much all singers these days), but it's all Don.

CRACK smoker right here!!! I went back and listened to Hell To Pay today, and that cd is all over the place. It doesn't know if it wants to be pop, rock, or grunge. There is no flow to the album whatsoever. It's almost like Don just pulled songs out of a dest drawer that he had written over the last 30 years and threw them together. It's a shitty album.
THIS album however has some great songs, melodies, and gels together nicely. It could have used a couple of faster songs to replace the two slowest songs, but overall I think it has that classic Dokken sound, and it's definitely worthy to any true Dokken fan. Best $9.99 I spent in a while.

I've barely been listening to any music the last few months other than going to live shows. I liked the Van Halen cd and Asia's XXX release. Not much else. I usually listen to talk radio all day at the office.

"For The Last Time" is the closest to the old Dokken sound I've heard on the first listen. 2 songs to go. It's alright. Nothing real memorable, but certainly not embarassing like their performance at M3.
"Tonight" is pretty decent too.
Now off to check out the new Jimi Jameson and Magnum discs if they are available yet.

Got the Magnum disc. Great stuff. Still need to see if Jameson is available in digital form. I don't buy physical CD's anymore.
