Female Vocalist Smackdown (formerly:For Deano & everyone else - not a poll)

OK you are tired of music polls about journey.

(I couldn't find any other place to put it - the other non-journey general forums as for either beat downs or Steve Perry)

So this isn't a poll but a little head to head *snert* (I said "head") of female vocalists.

We will be jumping in the way back machine to start.

Mary Ford [wife of Les Paul, who developed, among other things, the process of recording "layers" (tracks on tracks). A process that was used later by George Martin on the Sgt. Pepper album and by Queen, just about everywhere. Mary Ford was his featured vocalist]

And for those of you who think that because this is before your time, it is no longer relevant., remember: Michaelangelo was before your time too, and the ceiling of St. Peter's Basilica - the Sistine Chapel - is still very relevant.

Trivia: Both became known in the band "The Runaways"
Lita went on with a solo career and sang with Ozzy "Close My Eyes Forever" while Joan was happy to be one of the original "bad girls" of Rock and Roll and has had a successful career - both solo and with her band "The Blackhearts".

P.S. - Since Coquina's was the only vote, Brenda Lee wins the first head to head and will be featured again tomorrow (I wanted to respond to Coquina's Lita Ford mention in a timely fashion)

Lita Ford is a much better musician than Joan Jett. Not only is she a better singer, but also an amazing guitar player....

I like Tina to be sure, but I don't see Twain as necessarily country anymore. Pop star would fit her better, and og by the way, she is above Journey in albums sold..48 million I think.

Tina wrote most of the songs that she and Ike did
Tina produced a couple of the albums
Hell tina even made all of the costumes of the Ikettes by hand

Shania had Mutt playing fetch for her .... and he is gone.... she will have to start putting together the band and the studio time herself.

Pat Benatar.....Gritty but kinda dancey-pop, but I liked her look. She was awsome on Crossroads with Martina.


Anne Wilson.....Raspy Rockin hard core chick with a side of R&R sex and charm and even tho she got older and wiser......she simply rocked all over Wynona on Crossroads.
