Temp is down to 100. You all aren't kidding about the hysteria though. Both Lori and my workplaces have told us to stay home the rest of the week.

If that's a deep pool of alcohol....I'm joining the fucking media. As a preference I'd like it to be beer...not chilled.

My asthmatic son has been exposed to H1N1. Waiting to see if he gets sick. Told him he needed to go to health services on campus immediately if he started feeling like crap.

H1N1 is no worse than the usual flu, BUT........................
It is freaking people out. My work wants me to stay home and I am really exhausted.
Oh well. Another day off work.

Re: My daughter has H1N1
Thanks! The first two days he seemed miserable but yesterday he acted and felt a lot better with no fever. Now hopefully the respiratory part will clear up. I have seen him sicker than this with other flus and colds with his asthma. He hasn't needed his inhaler so far. Maybe it's the tamiflu, who knows but I'm just glad it's not been as bad as we thought it might be!doka wrote:Ed, Lynn...hope your children have a speedy recovery...nothing worse in this world than a sick child.

that's so ridiculous! I mean if your not actively sick coughing and sneezing, how do they think they will catch it? And if they think everyone isn't being exposed they're wrong! My ped said they believe 50% of the population has or has had it. Not everyone is honest like you were I'm sure. It's not like you share spit in a work place. The power of the media!

Make them walk through a prickle bush then throw them in a pool of lemon juice first, just to get them started.

Playing Mr. Mom again today. At least she's watching old Looney Tunes cartoons (which I still like) and not that Dora and Diego crap.

Re: My daughter has H1N1
Fever down to 99.7. Officially tested positive at the doctor's today with H1N1 and also the seasonal flu. Not sure how that happens.
She seems much better today. We think she will be back at daycare on Monday.

I wonder how many people caught the H1N1 bug waiting out in the cold amidst a massive crowd of people waiting for their shot
Now, THAT'S irony

Re: My daughter has H1N1
Probably a lot.....just like people flocking to hospitals and doctor's offices are passing on the flu to others (H1N1 or otherwise). In the hosptial where I work we are not banning children from visiting but we are trying to limit it and encouraging parents to not bring childern up-but since it would be cruel and inappropriate to tell them they could not come up to see a new baby, we are asking them to limit the time of their visit and to stay in their mom's room when they do come. I was explaining this to a patient with a 3 year old daughter a few days ago and they became defensive and said "she's not sick and she doesn't even go to school yet." When I explained that our policy was more for her protection than anyone then they finally got it-there are OTHER people in the hosptial that are sick and she should stay away from them!Ehwmatt wrote:

Re: My daughter has H1N1
We tried our best to keep Kristen from even seeing a doctor. Problem was, she had the H1N1 and also the seasonal strain at the same time. Don't ask me how that is possible.
Totally didn't want her in a doctor's office but the 104.7 spike and her becoming disoriented forced our hand.

Re: My daughter has H1N1
Did they ACTUALLY test her for H1N1? The H1N1 is a blood test and it takes several days to get the results, in addition, it costs $400 for the test, and the treatment is the same as for influenza A, H1N1 usually just lasts about 3 days longer. In this area, docs are testing for Influenza A and if the patient tests positive, because H1N1 is so closely related they are just treating them as if they have H1N1...and often telling them they have it when in reality, they may not.....that may explain it.....Ed wrote:We tried our best to keep Kristen from even seeing a doctor. The paper has H1N1, now I didn't go, my wife did. Maybe they assumed. I know they did the cotton swab up the nose. Lori would have to tell me if they drew blood and she is asleep. It lasted over a week. Just glad it is over.
