2010 Ashes Test Series
First Ashes Test, Brisbane:
England 260 & 517-1 drew with Australia 481 & 107-1
Alastair Cook and Jonathan Trott set a series of records as England hit an extraordinary 517-1 on the final day of the first Ashes Test before declaring.
The match finished in an expected draw, Australia replying with 107-1 having been set 297 to win from 41 overs.
Cook's 235 not out was the sixth best Ashes score by an Englishman and he also surpassed Sir Don Bradman for the highest Test score at the Gabba.
Cook and Trott (135no) put on 329, the ninth highest England stand in history.
Second Ashes Test, Adelaide:
Australia 245 all out v England 317-2 (day two, stumps)
Alastair Cook hit an unbeaten 136 as England built a 72-run lead on day two of the second Test against Australia.
After his 235 not out in the first Test, Cook took his series aggregate to 438 with a chanceless knock as England reached 317-2 at the close.
The tourists made a bad start to the day when Andrew Strauss was bowled by Doug Bollinger playing no stroke.
But Jonathan Trott (78) and Kevin Pietersen (85 not out) helped Cook put them in a commanding position.

Re: 2010 Ashes Test Series
Kevin Pietersen struck with the final ball of day four to put England on course for victory in the second Test against Australia in Adelaide.
Pietersen had Michael Clarke caught at short-leg for 80 as the home side ended on 238-4, still 137 runs behind.
England had declared on 620-5 after adding 69 in nine overs, Pietersen out for a Test-best 227 and Ian Bell on 68.
Graeme Swann took two wickets but after rain Clarke and Mike Hussey took their stand to 104 before the late drama.
With bad weather also forecast for the final day of the match, the decision to bat on by England skipper Andrew Strauss with his side already 306 ahead was questionable.

England thrash Australia by an innings and 71 runs to win the second Test in Adelaide and take a 1-0 lead in the Ashes
England bowled out Australia for 304 to win the second Test in Adelaide in emphatic fashion by an innings and 71 runs and take a 1-0 lead in the Ashes.
The expected deluge of rain failed to save the Australians as they resumed in warm sunshine 137 runs behind on 238-4.
After Michael Hussey fell for 52 in the sixth full over, James Anderson struck twice with successive deliveries.
Graeme Swann took the final wicket an hour before lunch by bowling Peter Siddle to finish with figures of 5-91.

Re: 2010 Ashes Test Series
After their trouble-free breeze around Australia, England have encountered their first 'crisis'. Forget the fact that Australian cricket is in the pits having just suffered their biggest defeat against England in this country for four decades. Kevin Pietersen has acquired a speeding fine.
And it could be argued that Shane Warne has made his first impact on the series. Yesterday Pietersen was given the use of a Lamborghini, the A$475,000 (£296,000) Gallardo LP560-4. As an ambassador for Lamborghini, Warne had generously made the arrangements for Pietersen.

Third Ashes Test, Perth (day one, stumps):
Australia 268 v England 29-0
England took a firm grip on the third Ashes Test in Perth after bowling Australia out for 268 on the first day.
Chris Tremlett vindicated his selection with three fine wickets as the hosts slumped to 69-5 shortly after lunch.
Mike Hussey, Brad Haddin and Mitchell Johnson all hit fifties before a last-wicket stand of 35 between Peter Siddle and Ben Hilfenhaus boosted the total.
But it was another superb day for England as Andrew Strauss and Alastair Cook reached 29-0 at the close

Re: 2010 Ashes Test Series
Mitchell Johnson produced a devastating display of swing bowling as Australia roared back into Ashes contention on day two of a riveting Perth Test.
England were 78-0 when the left-armer (6-38) turned the game on its head with a spell of four wickets for seven runs.
Only Andrew Strauss (52) and Ian Bell (53) offered any resistance as the tourists collapsed to 187 all out.
Shane Watson then scored 61 not out as Australia, trailing 1-0 in the series, reached 119-3 for a lead of 200 runs.
This was the day when the Ashes series came to life as Australia, outplayed for eight straight days of cricket and pilloried in their national press, took England's batting apart and put themselves in a great position to square a series that looked to be slipping away only 24 hours ago.
OH FUCK

Re: 2010 Ashes Test Series
Ashes: England crash to defeat as Aussies level series
Third Ashes Test, Perth (day four):
Australia 268 & 309 beat England 187 & 123 by 267 runs
Australia needed only 50 minutes on the fourth day to take England's last five wickets and wrap up a 267-run win in the third Ashes Test at the Waca.
The emphatic victory levels the five-match series at 1-1, with the contest moving to Melbourne on Boxing Day.
Ryan Harris finished with a Test-best 6-47 as England were all out for 123.
The tourists resumed at 81-5, seeking an unlikely 391 to win in Perth, but Harris took four of the last five wickets and England folded meekly.
Having produced some disappointing cricket on days two and three, and in a hopeless position overnight, there was little indication England had much appetite to force the game as far as lunch on Sunday.

Re: 2010 Ashes Test Series
Ashes: Ian Bell focused on England win in Melbourne
FOURTH ASHES TEST: AUSTRALIA v ENGLAND
Venue: Melbourne Dates: 26-30 December Start time: 2330 GMT on 25 Dec
Ian Bell says where he bats for England is irrelevant as long as they win the fourth Ashes Test against Australia.
In-form Bell has been tipped to move up the order to five for the crucial match in Melbourne which begins on Boxing Day, with Paul Collingwood struggling.
Bell said: "It's always nice to get moved up the order [but] I've had no discussions about it.
"But whether it happens or not is irrelevant for this series, as long as we're winning the next two Tests."
He added: "That's the most important thing to me, contributing to this team winning the Ashes."
England skipper Andrew Strauss said: "I'm not going to 100% rule it out - but I'd be surprised if we went down that route.
"It is the time to go back to what has worked very well for us on this tour, and Belly has been a fine example of a number six batsman coming in and taking the game away from the opposition.
"He's in very good form and I can appreciate why people are clamouring for him to go up the order. But I'm very happy with what he is doing down there."
England and Australia are currently level in the series at 1-1, after the hosts claimed an emphatic victory in the third match.
Bell's first-innings 53 in England's 267-run loss in Perth was his fourth successive Test half-century.
He said he was excited about the prospect of playing in front of a record 90,000-plus crowd at the MCG on Sunday as England look to get their Ashes defence back on track.
"Playing here in Melbourne is something you look forward to - a Boxing Day Test match is always special," he said.
"We're particularly excited about playing on one of the best grounds in the world and trying to put right what we did wrong in Perth.

Re: 2010 Ashes Test Series
Ashes: England dominate woeful Australia in Melbourne
England put themselves in a remarkably dominant position after day one of the fourth Ashes Test having bowled out Australia for just 98 in Melbourne.
Chris Tremlett and James Anderson swung the ball beautifully to take four wickets each after captain Andrew Strauss had won an important toss.
Australia showed poor technique to contribute to their demise.
And they were made to pay when Strauss and Alastair Cook pushed England along to a very healthy 157-0 in reply.
Having lost by 267 runs on a much faster wicket in Perth to relinquish their 1-0 series lead, England's flawless performance on Boxing Day with bat and ball defied logic.
They have already put Australia, who recorded their lowest all-out total in an Ashes Test at the MCG, in a situation where defeat is a probability.
In Australia's mitigation was the fact that cool, cloudy conditions up until tea had turned the early exchanges into something more akin to a May Test match in England, with bowlers able to extract swing and seam movement.
With propitious timing for the tourists, the clouds melted away as Strauss - who ended the day on 64 - and Cook (80) strode to the crease. And barring one or two early deliveries from Ben Hilfenhaus the ball did not swing for the Australians.
